Tickets are now on sale for the Broadway debut of A.R. Gurney’s Sylvia. The production will star Tony winners Annaleigh Ashford and Julie White, as well as Robert Sella. Performances will begin at the Cort Theatre on September 25, with an officially opening night set for October 15. Daniel Sullivan will direct.
Has your pet changed your life? Have you ever wondered what she’s thinking when she stares up at you and tilts her head? Could she have the secret to understanding the world at large and your place in it? Or is she just more interested in how your shoe tastes? In Sylvia, the world of a middle-aged New York couple is turned topsy-turvy when the husband brings home an exceptionally engaging canine running loose in Central Park.
Additional casting for Sylvia will be announced at a later date. The show was first produced off-Broadway in 1995 at the Manhattan Theatre Club, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, where it ran for 167 performances; this will be the first time it has been seen on the Main Stem.
